Runebook early access is live!

The TL;DR

At Runebook we’re building a better way for engineering teams to access infrastructure. Today we’re launching early access with the following features:

  1. Engineers can request privileged access to AWS roles
  2. Managers can approve or deny access requests via Slackbot
  3. Privileges can be automatically granted to the PagerDuty designated on-call engineer

Access generates audit logs and permissions are automatically deprovisioned after use.

During the early access period, Runebook is free to use. Our priority is to work with early adopters to shape our product and meet their access control needs. If you don’t see an integration, feature, or use-case your team needs, we’d love to chat founders@runebook.co.

The Backstory

Accessing infrastructure sucks. Either everyone has “god mode” and the CTO is waking up at 3AM with night sweats wondering if the intern from 2015 still has the ability to deploy a Bitcoin miner, or engineers are going to the DMV to request access (”fill out form 45.23B subsection 12.53.1 and please indicate if the resource you’re requesting is cloud, on-prem, or imaginary, as that will dictate who will need to give secondary sign off”).

We’ve felt this pain before, my last engineering team had to deploy across 12 global datacenters, three different clouds, two on-premise deployments, and access management was a nightmare. Engineers just want to ship code, fix problems, and move on with their lives.

That’s why we started Runebook. We’re building a modern solution from the ground up for better access management for your infrastructure.
